Archer Aviation Secures LA World Cup Deal, Expands Air Taxi Ambitions
Archer Aviation (ACHR) has been named the exclusive Air Taxi Partner for Los Angeles' marquee sporting events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Super Bowl LXI. The electric aircraft startup plans to leverage these global platforms to showcase its Midnight air taxi ahead of a planned 2028 Olympics rollout.
The Midnight model—designed for four passengers plus pilot—targets urban routes where it can outperform ground transportation. Archer is developing a network of vertiports across Los Angeles, with CEO Adam Goldstein positioning the venture as a transformative mobility solution rather than a novelty.
Market reaction remains volatile. ACHR shares swung from Monday's 5.68% gain to Tuesday's 4.76% decline, closing at $11.41. The volatility underscores both the speculative nature of advanced air mobility stocks and the sector's long-term potential.
